Michael D. Peters , MD - Medical Director & Facial Plastic Surgeon

During Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Dr. Peters served in combat as a U.S. Navy corpsman with the 1st Marine Division & Fleet Hospital-5.He obtained a Biology, B.S. degree Magna Cum Laude from Old Dominion University while on active duty at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. After completely his military service, he attended medical school at SUNY Downstate – Brooklyn, N.Y., graduating with Honors.

Dr. Peters completed his Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) training at the University of Minnesota in 2001, where he subsequently was honored to attend the Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship, completed in 2002. After board certifying in both specialties, Dr. Peters practiced in Chicago and in Minneapolis, and has served Horry and surrounding counties since 2006. He is licensed in North & South Carolina.

Dr. Peters’ philosophy of practice involves providing a comfortable, attentive and informative environment that allows the patients to feel educated and involved in their own care. He not only has an interest in his specialty and continually expanding his expertise, but a genuine interest in each patient, individually.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife & kids, rescuing injured dogs with his wife, working on his race car & endurance road racing, music & singing, cooking/food & wine, and traveling when he can.

He is excited to become a part of the team at Melinda’s Medspa & Salon.

Merissa Rissy, Owner

Rissy Sutherland is an National business and Franchising Industry Lifer. She started her education with a Bachelors and Masters and teacher at Clemson University before She began working at a national Automotive Franchising company as VP of Training and Operations (at the end of tenure there). She then transitioned to being a cofounder and COO of another National Automotive Franchising with a focus on family, female and ecofriendly auto repair for 9 years. Next Rissy wanted to transition into another industry and worked as the COO of a national Medical Francise company with over 200 locations! This was an amazing turn around company opportunity that provided a whole new challenge in operations excellence crossing state lines in the medical industry. Rissy stabilized the company and was joyful to bring in a new head of company as she transitioned out to run another National privately owned automotive repair company as President and CEO. It was wonderful to run and grow a privately owned company for many years and finally be able to settle down in her home state of South Carolina. After running over 300 locations in over 35 states she is happy to settle in North Myrtle Beach with her dog Crusher (a therapy dog for foster Children). As Melinda was looking to retire Rissy was looking to go back to her business roots and Med Spa Passions! Today she is excited to grow Melindas Med Spa across the South East. In her spare time she enjoys time with family and friends doing anything outside (beach, lake, hiking, surfing, running, paddle boarding and more). She also enjoys having the team involved in community with foster care ministry, orphanages, cancer fund raising, blood drives and more!

Melinda Reeves, Founder

Melinda holds a massage therapy degree from the Baltimore School of Holistic Massage, a medical aestheticism degree from the Capilo Institute, advanced training at Grace Medical, Summerville SC in Medical Aesthetic, Glymed Institute of Skin Science and the National Laser Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. She entered the spa industry as a medical massage therapist in 1991 and has owned spas in Maine and Maryland, prior to opening Melinda’s Med Spa and Salon in North Myrtle Beach.
